BACKGROUND OF OLD SOKIANS - UK
The inspiration of establishing a Dharmasoka College Past Pupils Association had been in the minds of many Sokians living in England for a long time. However, despite the fact that there were many Sokians live in England who strives to form an Association for a long time, it was not happened until now. Dr. Sunil De Silva's determination to transform it in to a reality by creating a FaceBook group for Dharmasoka College Past Pupils UK seems to bear fruits.
Dr. Sunil De Silva, Dr. Samantha De Silva , Shiyamin Mohamed and Ms. Jayamini De Silva had the motive and determination to embark on the formation of an Association with the support of another three sokians namely Aruna de Silva and Dr Deepa Ranjini. On 2nd of October 2010 at Newcatle upon Tyne Artist Jayamini de Silva’s ‘NETH’ Exhibition gave this Golden opportunity. Sokians opened their ‘Neth’ to give birth to Past Pupils Association UK at last. Association’s (DCPPA-UK) inaugural meeting was held at Jayamin's house in Newcastle founder members being Sunil, Samantha, shiyamin, Aruna, Jayamini & Deepa . After a long worthwhile discussion, all consented to organize a First Sokians General meeting in Stoke On Trent where Dr. Samantha extended his generosity by sponsoring the event.
The Old Sokians United Kingdom is a Registered Charity in Scotland, Charity registration Number SC047150, Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator association of the Past Pupils of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka College now living in United Kingdom. The First General meeting of the Association was held on 22nd January 2011 at Stoke On Trent.
